MY RATA POSTER

Air pollution

In this speech I am going to talk about Air pollution. Air Pollution  is a mixture of solid particles and gasses in the air. The solid particles are chemicals from factories, dust, pollen, mold spores and Ozone which is a gas. Some air pollutants are poisonous. Inhaling them can cause irritation in the eyes, lungs, nose and throat. It can create respiratory problems and exacerbates existing conditions such as asthma and emphysema. Eldery and children are at greater risk from air pollution because it can lead to an early death. When you're exposed long term us humans can become higher risk for cardiovascular disease along with other health problems. There are many deals with two types of pollution: pm10 and pm2.5 and these refer to what is known as the particles released into the air that are small enough to be inhaled.

What caused air pollution?

Air pollution is caused by solid and liquid particles and certain gases that are in the air. These particles and gases can come from cars and trucks exhaust pipes, factories, dust, pollen, mold spores, volcanoes and wildfires. The solid and liquid particles in our air are called aerosols. Air pollution is also caused by the ozone, Ozone is a greenhouse gas that can be both good and bad for our environment. It all depends on where it is in the earth's atmosphere.

If you didn’t know what aerosol is I’ll tell you. Aerosol is a mix of fine particles and droplets of liquids in gas or in the air. They can be natural or human-made. Natural aerosols for example are fog, mist, dust, pollen, steam but human-made aerosols include smoke and air pollutants.

Air pollution affects global warming. Aerosols can also impact how the Sun’s light hits Earth. For example some aerosols reflect sunlight while others absorb sunlight. It depends on the color of the particle. If the colour is any light bright colour such as white it is most likely to reflect sunlight. Dark colours on the other hand, like black will absorb the sunlight and help global warming.

A few ways to do your part to help reduce air pollution is things like no littering, recycle and reuse, no to plastic bags, reduction of forest fires and smoking, the use of fans instead of air condition, the use of a filter for chimneys, choosing to go for walks or bike rides instead of driving everywhere.

That was my speech about Air Pollution. I hope you enjoyed it.
