Covid 19

LOCKDOWN IN NEW ZEALAND 2020
On March the 23rd in 2020 our Prime Minister, Jacinda Adern said NZ had 24 hours until we were going to be at alert level 4 which meant that New Zealand would be in lockdown because of the virus COVID 19.

This virus originated from Wuhan, China. The Coronavirus was spread from animals and humans. It has spread all around the world, to 210 countries and territories too.  It  has been reported that there have been 2,994,958 confirmed cases of the virus. There have been 206,997 deaths in the world but NZ has had 19 deaths when I checked and hopefully there are NO MORE!

Since the lockdown started school and certain shops have been shut. Then only stores open are the essentials service are supermarkets, gas stations, doctors and pharmacies.

We’ve had to do our school work at home online everyday besides the weekends like normal. The ministry also sent out homeschooling kits to help parents know what to do with their kids.
Our class has morning meetings via video chat everyday to see what people have been up to and so we still stay in touch with people.

We have enjoyed being at home spending time together but we still miss some of our family and friends. We know this isn’t forever; it is just to keep the virus from getting out of control and it seems to be working. New Zealand has had low confirmed cases lately. The other day Jacinda Adern moved to alert level 3 but that still means we have to keep our bubbles small and have low contact with people.
